Mark D. Anderson, DDS, FAACA

Dr. Anderson graduated from the LSU School of Dentistry in 2000. Upon graduating dental school, Dr. Anderson began working as an associate dentist under Dr. Ronald Villars in downtown New Orleans. He practiced dentistry in the CBD (central business district) for 9 years and in August of 2009 opened up Mid-City Smiles Family Dentistry. Over the years Dr. Anderson has completed many hours of continuing education with an emphasis on orthodontic dentistry, including Invisalign® certification. He is the leading Invisalign provider in the greater New Orleans area achieving Diamond status since 2021 through Invisalign, a distinction earned by less than 1% of Invisalign providers worldwide. Dr. Anderson is also a lifetime member of the Untied States Dental Institute, the oldest program in the industry for education of orthodontics for general dentists including traditional straightwire braces and functional appliances. Additionally, he has earned a fellowship with the American Academy of Clear Aligners.

Dr. Anderson has also received specialized training for the surgical placement of dental implants. Patients are now able to receive complete dental implant care from start to finish at Mid-City Smiles including the use of digitally guided surgery. Sports Dentistry is another area Dr. Anderson has focused a lot of continuing education and training on. He has been a member of the Academy of Sports Dentistry since 2012. Dr. Anderson has helped provide dental/trauma care for local athletes and currently serves as the official team dentist of the New Orleans Pelicans as well as the University of New Orleans Athletics program.

Dr. Anderson is fluent in Spanish. He is a member of both the Hispanic Dental Association and the Louisiana Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He also periodically does a dental health radio show on the local Spanish radio channel. Since 2009, Dr. Anderson has been voted every year by his peers as one of New Orleans’ Top Dentists. His most recent profile appeared in the Top Dentists issue of New Orleans Magazine.

Dr. Anderson was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School and received his undergraduate Bachelor’s degree from LSU in Baton Rouge. His father is also a native New Orleanian (in fact, he was born and raised in the Mid-City area). His mother is a native of Havana, Cuba. He is married to Summer Anderson, a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He has 2 sons (Luke and Benjamin) and a daughter (Isabelle). He also enjoys traveling, camping, hiking, and playing/watching most sports especially Pelicans, Saints, UNO and all LSU teams. Dr. Anderson is also a member of the Krewe of Endymion, Mardi Gras’ largest parade organization.

Perla Hernandez, DDS

Dr. Perla Hernandez has been a proud New Orleans resident since she was 11 years old. She is originally from Guanajuato, Mexico. Dr. Hernandez graduated from LW Higgins High School in Marrero. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a Minor in Chemistry from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, LA. At Nicholls State, Dr. Hernandez won the Outstanding Achievement in Pre-Dentistry Award. She was also a member of the BBB Biological Honor Society.

She went on to receive her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in 2021. At LSU Dental School, Dr. Hernandez participated in a life changing volunteer mission trip providing free dental care to the underserved communities of the Dominican Republic. Dr. Hernandez is passionate about dentistry and helping others. She strives to make her patients feel comfortable while providing the highest standard of care.

Dr. Hernandez is a certified Botox and dermal filler provider. She received her training and certification through the American Academy of Facial Esthetics. She is also a member of the American Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Hispanic Dental Association, and New Orleans Dental Association. She is fluent in Spanish. During her spare time, Dr. Hernandez enjoys traveling and spending time with loved ones.

Caylin Frye, DDS

Dr. Caylin Frye is originally from Jupiter, Florida and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University with a minor in Family and Child Sciences. She then traveled to our nation’s capital and received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington D.C. Following dental school, Dr. Frye completed a one year general practice residency at the Washington D.C. Veterans Affairs hospital where she received specialized training in Implants, Oral Surgery, Endodontics, Treatment planning and Smile design cases. Dr. Frye met her husband, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, while in D.C. and eventually moved down to the Big Easy in 2017 where she has practiced ever since.

In her spare time Dr. Frye is an avid sports enthusiast, you can find her cheering on her New Orleans Saints and Pelicans, and anything Florida State Seminoles related. As long as LSU is not competing against FSU then you can find her cheering for the Tigers as well! She grew up with a love for dance and danced all through high school, college, and was even a part of a world renowned tap company, Sole Defined, based out of the D.C. area while in dental school.

Dr. Frye has a love for cosmetic dentistry and a passion for helping patients feel beautiful and confident behind their smile. She has completed various courses to gain additional specialized training in Porcelain Veneers, Invisalign, Botox and Fillers and Smile Makeovers. Dr. Frye is a Board Member of the American Academy of Clear Aligners (AACA), as well as a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) and the American Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). Kayla Macri, DMD

Welcome our newest member of the Mid-City Smiles team!!! Dr. Kayla Macri was born and raised in North Palm Beach, Florida alongside 3 siblings. She attended the University of Florida where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition. Although she is now surrounded by a large LSU community, she holds strong to her Gator roots!

While at U.F., Dr. Macri‘s love for dentistry started as she worked as a dental assistant in the Pediatric Dental Department. Dr. Macri continued on to earn a Master’s Degree from Georgetown University in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology where she completed a research fellowship working on Sjogren’s Syndrome at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research at the NIH.

Dr. Macri then moved back to sunny Florida where she earned her dental degree from LECOM School of Dental Medicine. While at LECOM, she was the founding Vice President of A.S.D.A. and the student delegate to the American Dental Association. Dr. Macri then moved back to Washington, D.C. to complete a General Practice Residency at the VA Hospital. She was fortunate to grow a large practice as the lead dentist with amazing patients for 5 years. As a transplant to the New Orleans area, Dr. Macri is excited to dive into the amazing food/culture and is loving the southern hospitality.

When she is not in the office, Dr. Macri loves to enjoy the outdoors, cooking, exploring new places/restaurants and gardening. She loves spending time with her large family and spending time with her better half, Brandon and his son Isaiah. Her fur children keep her very entertained also-Tank, a 5lb Maltese, and Rocko, the Boxer.
